High Commission of India holds Video Conference on post Covid economic recovery with Indian CEO Forum Board Members



Ms. Suja K. Menon, Head of Economic and Commercial Wing, High Commission of India interacted with the Board members of Indian CEO Forum (ICF) in Sri Lanka over a video conference yesterday (12 May 2020).  

2. ICF Board members spoke about the challenges emerging out of COVID 19 pandemic and the importance of collaborative efforts between the Government and the industry to facilitate faster economic recovery. Individual companies also flagged specific challenges faced by them in their respective sectors. However, they remained optimistic regarding the future outlook, noting the opportunities even in the wake of COVID 19 crisis. 

3. Ms. Suja K. Menon appreciated the constructive remarks by ICF members highlighting the confidence in the resilience of the Sri Lankan economy. She noted that India would continue its development partnership as well as close economic and commercial cooperation with Sri Lanka. Noting the recent gifting of 4 medical consignments by India to Sri Lanka to effectively fight the COVID 19 pandemic, she underlined India’s role as first responder in Sri Lanka, in a variety of crises situations. She commended the role of ICF in strengthening Sri Lankan economy through creation of local jobs, investments and transfer of technology and skill sets and appreciated ICF’s contribution to India-Sri Lanka relations, especially in the economic and commercial spheres.
